Cortis Berkeley Concert reviews
Metallica: The Four Horsemen of Metal
Once the lights went out, and "The Ecstasy of Gold" started playing, the crowd absolutely erupted. The energy they performed this show with was incredible. If you didn't know it already, you would've NEVER thought these guys were mid-upper 40's with everything they were doing on stage. Gojira put on a great show to open, and although I've never heard of them before, I'm looking them up now. My favorite performances of the show were "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "One", "Master of Puppets", "Turn the Page", and "The Day That Never Comes"... although every song was performed exceptionally. However their incomprehensible screaming, plus constant requests to "get your f*cking hands up!!!" every 10 seconds got old... quick. I've never seen a crowd so into a concert like this one... during certain songs, the entire crowd was either throwing horns to the beat of the drums, or clapping in unison. The setup was awesome: flat, open stage with no obstructions, coffin-shaped lights that would come down at certain points, PLENTY of pyro, and some very impressive light displays. Lamb of God had a couple of good songs and a decent set. Where to begin? This show was absolutely incredible. If you get the chance to go see Cortis, for the love of god GO SEE THEM. Once they left the stage, there was a long wait for Cortis to come up. This show was WELL worth the price of the ticket. I'll gladly do this again if they come back to the GA/SC/NC area.
